The Egmont Group (EG) of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) would like to extend its gratitude to Ramatoulaye Gadio Agne for her exceptional contributions to the organization as EG Vice-Chair from July 2019 to July 2020 and most recently as the EG West and Central Africa (WCA) Regional Representative from July 2019 to February 2022.

As the WCA Regional Representative over the last three years, she was a champion for enhanced WCA Regional contributions to the EG’s mission, was a strong promoter of the EG’s international and regional messages, and intensified regional efforts to advance the EG membership process for WCA FIUs that are not members yet.

Mrs. Gadio Agne saw the following initiatives come to fruition throughout her EG roles:

• A virtual meeting with an update to the Regional Group action plan’s implementation.
• The Best Egmont Case Award (BECA) 2020 included participation from the FIUs of Senegal, Chad, and Côte d’Ivoire.
• The Workshop on Illegal Wildlife Trade included participation from the WCA Regional Group FIUs, including contributions from the FIUs of Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Senegal.
• As Regional Representative, President of the FIU-Senegal, and the GIABA National Correspondent, Mrs. Gadio Agne contributed during the Heads of FIU webinar on the subtheme of mobile payment service vulnerabilities as they relate to money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF).

Financial crimes are omnipresent, complex, and have global consequences. Still, the hard work of leaders like Mrs. Gadio Agne inspires others to remain vigilant in preventing them and enhances international cooperation between FIUs to combat ML/TF more effectively.

The EG recognizes and thanks Ramatoulaye Gadio Agne for dedicating her time to the organization as EG Vice-Chair and WCA Regional Representative over the last three years and for being a commendable international anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing role model.
