Fighting Financial Crime Through Global Partnership

🌍 This week, the Egmont Group was pleased to participate in the Combating Cross-Border Financial Crime and Money Laundering Workshop, hosted by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada. The event brought together law enforcement officials, policymakers, diplomats, and financial crime experts to exchange insights on emerging threats and strengthen international cooperation against financial crime.

🎤 Egmont Group Chair, Elżbieta Franków-Jaśkiewicz, delivered welcome remarks, highlighting the importance of trusted partnerships, timely information sharing, and collective action in addressing increasingly complex cross-border financial crime threats.

🛡️Representing the Egmont Group on an expert panel, Guillaume Ollivry, Working and Regional Groups Manager, discussed how cooperation among Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) strengthens the global fight against money laundering and related financial crimes.

🏆 A key feature of the workshop was the Prince Group case, recipient of the 2026 Best Egmont Case Award (BECA). The case demonstrated the power of financial intelligence and international collaboration in disrupting sophisticated cross-border criminal networks.

📍Following the workshop, the Egmont Group was pleased to welcome lead case investigator Ms. Peihua Lin to the Egmont Group Secretariat in Ottawa, where discussions continued on operational cooperation, innovation, and lessons learned from this successful investigation.
