The Egmont Group Thanks Anne-Marie Kemna, the Director of FIU Curaçao, for her Contributions to the Organization as Vice-Chair

As her tenure as Egmont Group (EG) Vice-Chair and Regional Representative of EG’s Americas Region came to a close, the EG would like to thank Anne-Marie Kemna, Director of FIU Curaçao, for her substantial contributions to the organization.

As EG Vice-Chair, Mrs. Kemna helped lead the organization on all significant issues over the last two years. She acted as convener for the Finance Reference Group, providing valuable support for budget development, reviewing the membership contribution matrix, and ensuring the organization worked on a sound financial basis. Mrs. Kemna contributed to revamping our Support and Compliance Procedure, which is critical for maintaining high member standards and our current IT overhaul project, introducing a new international secure platform for cooperation between FIUs. She represented Egmont at several FATF and international partner meetings and conferences, speaking on topics like combatting the financing of environmental crime, illegal flows and corruption, the importance of international and interdisciplinary collaboration and the role of FIUs in the combatting of human trafficking. She also led a sensitive fact-finding initiative involving a high-profile FIU after the unlawful disclosure of suspicious activity reports, and supported several other fact-finding missions.

In addition, she contributed to several EG projects, including the Rulebook for vetting EG sponsorship offers, a project investigating impediments to FIU information exchanges worldwide, and a joint EG/World Customs Organization project to draft the Customs-FIU Cooperation Handbook. Mrs. Kemna also provided expertise to the Membership, Support and Compliance Working Group (MSCWG) and leadership to the Policies and Procedures Working Group (PPWG) and the Information Management Reference Group on issues related to the Egmont Biennial Census, the Egmont Secure Web, and other valuable operational outputs that supported member FIUs in enhancing their capacity to detect and disrupt new and emerging (ML/TF) threats.

The EG extends its sincere gratitude to Mrs. Kemna, whose commitment to the EG and international AML/CFT efforts has been invaluable to our organization and has helped strengthen our ability to combat financial crimes globally. Her firm belief in the value of maintaining the global financial system’s integrity by strengthening its resiliency to ML/TF threats is admirable, and we look forward to future opportunities for Mrs. Kemna and FIU Curaçao to further contribute to our organization.
