During 13-18 October 2019, Egmont Group Chair Mariano FEDERICI and Egmont Group Executive Secretary Jerome Beaumont attended the FATF Plenary and Working Group Meetings in Paris, France.
Throughout the event, Mr. Federici promoted the work that FIUs around the globe and the Egmont Group are doing to disrupt money laundering and terrorism financing, engaged with various stakeholders on matters of relevance for the strategic objectives of the Egmont Group, and liaised bilaterally with Egmont members present in Paris.
In particular, the Egmont Group Chair and the Executive Secretary met with the FATF President Mr. Xiangmin Liu to discuss potential areas to enhance future cooperation between the Egmont Group and the FATF and agreed to continue the dialogue in this direction in the coming months.
Also, the Egmont Delegation updated the FATF about the significant work undertaken by the Egmont Group for understanding of the financial flows associated with illegal wildlife trade, the parties involved in such transactions, and the types of financial instruments employed to launder proceeds of these criminal activities.
