On March 13, 2025, with the presence of the Minister at the UK Treasury Emma Reynolds, the Egmont Group Executive Secretary, Jerome Beaumont, delivered an intervention at the London publication event for the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) report on Combating Online Child Sexual Exploitation (OCSE) through Financial Intelligence.
Mr. Beaumont joined a top table discussion of distinguished speakers, including FATF President, Elisa De Anda Madrazo, focusing on operationalizing the findings of the report.
Key highlights from the Executive Secretary’s intervention included:
- Reflecting on EGMONT’s previous project and training offer in this area.
- Discussing the challenges in international information and support Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) provide in identifying and combating OCSE.
Mr. Beaumont emphasized the crucial role of FIUs in tracking illicit financial flows linked to online CSE, the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships, and the necessity of international cooperation to tackle this transnational crime effectively.
The panel discussions were expertly moderated by Jennie Haslett, providing an excellent opportunity to see Toms Platacis, Head of FIU Latvia, and Tom Keatinge, Director of the Centre for Finance and Security at RUSI.
The Egmont Group was proud to have contributed to the report and remains committed to helping eradicate online CSE through enhanced training, timely detection and intervention, and robust international cooperation.
