Egmont Chair Elżbieta Franków-Jaśkiewicz Advocates for Enhanced Global Cooperation at Financial Crime Summit

We are pleased to share that the Egmont Chair, Elżbieta Franków-Jaśkiewicz, Deputy Director of FIU-Poland, was invited to speak and participate at the National Summit on Financial Crime Compliance: Threats, Vulnerabilities and Controls in Abu Dhabi this week.

The Egmont Group Chair highlighted several crucial points during her speech and panel discussion including:

  • Financial investigation success hinges on prompt and efficient cooperation, both internationally and within domestic spheres.
  • There is an opportunity to leverage IT analytical tools and cloud services to enhance FIUs’ operational effectiveness in combating money laundering, associated predicate crimes, and terrorist financing.
  • Working with both traditional and non-traditional AML/CFT partners is crucial for addressing evolving financial crime risks, such as with the abuse of virtual assets and the exploitation of Non-Profit Organizations for terrorist financing.

In conclusion, the Egmont Group Chair stated that “Through sustained cooperation, clear communication, and a shared commitment to combating money laundering, associated predicate crimes, and terrorist financing, these threats can be effectively navigated. The experiences of various FIUs and LEAs demonstrate that, while complex, successful international collaboration is both achievable and essential in the global fight against financial crime.”
