This week, Jérôme Beaumont, Executive Secretary of the Egmont Group, participated in DC FinTech Week 2026, joining leading voices from government, industry, academia, and international organizations to discuss the future of financial innovation and financial integrity.

Across these discussions, Mr. Beaumont explored the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies, digital assets, artificial intelligence, and the evolving regulatory landscape. He underscored the critical role of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) in safeguarding the integrity of the global financial system, highlighted the value of public-private partnerships in identifying and responding to emerging threats, and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in keeping pace with increasingly sophisticated financial crime. He also noted that innovation and effective regulation are not competing objectives, but complementary forces that can help build a safer, more resilient, and more inclusive financial ecosystem.
On the margins of the event, Mr. Beaumont also met with Chady El Khoury of the International Monetary Fund to discuss ongoing cooperation and the joint Egmont Group-IMF report on Financial Intelligence Units, reinforcing the strong partnership between our organizations and our shared commitment to strengthening the global fight against financial crime.
