30 years ago, the Egmont Group was founded on a simple but powerful idea: that financial intelligence units (FIUs), through international cooperation, could make a real difference in protecting our economies and societies from the harms of money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing.
Today, the Egmont Group connects 182 FIUs worldwide, enabling rapid, secure, and confidential exchanges of financial intelligence. Our network has grown stronger, more resilient, and more innovative with each passing year.
As we mark this day, we must also recognize the challenges that confront us. The Egmont Group, along with our members and partners, remains committed to working together to fight these threats.

- FIUs’ Role in Fighting Environmental Crime
This project aims to enhance awareness among FIUs and generate a better global understanding of illicit financial activity associated with environmental crimes, their interlinkages with organized crime, and corruption as a facilitating factor.
