At the historic Egmont-Arenberg Palace in Brussels, representatives from fully established Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) and key international organizations came together for the very first Egmont Group meeting.
🔹 From that gathering, 13 FIUs would go on to become the founding members of what is now a global network of 177 FIUs.
That foundational moment marked the beginning of a global movement to enhance international cooperation in the fight against money laundering, predicate crimes, and terrorist financing.
